Read the reviews and wanted to give this place a try. Ordered the chicken salad which comes with croquettes ($12), an iced cortadito ($3.50 + .50 for ice), and a guava cheese pastry ($2). Food arrived pretty quickly. Downside - there's only a couple of tables outdoors that were taken during my visit, and no seating available inside to enjoy my lunch. The chicken salad was flavorful. It was served with chilled green lettuce, which was a good complement. The croquettes were still warm and also tasty. The guava and cheese pastry was flaky and tasted fresh - not too sweet and a nice treat to end my meal.

A bit of home in SF! YES to their cubanos and more because I felt like I was back in South FL when I had a bite of their food. We had them cater a work event at our office in SF and they really wowed all of us. We had a cafecito break in the middle of one of our conference days and the coffee + pastelitos really brought us all back to life! For the overall spread, we had some of the mango & queso pastries, chicken pika pastries, spinach and feta pastries, and Cuban sandwiches. Of course I had to get the cuban sandwiches because I can never say no and I tried the mango & queso. So gooooood. Will have to visit their actual location next visit to the Bay!

Social Cafe offers sweet and savory pastries at very affordable prices! They're located half a block from from Bryant St courthouse, a convenient location for those reporting for jury duty. I stopped by 30 minutes before closing and got one guava & cheese pastry and one spinach & feta pastry. The guava & cheese was beautifully laminated with buttery airy pockets. The guava was sweet and worked well with creamy cheese. The spinach & feta had a generous amount of filling with some creaminess from the feta. Both pastries were very flakey and delicious. Social Cafe has limited seating, so this place is more of a grab-and-go. The cafe is bright and clean, and they have a windowed kitchen area to see the bakes in action. The owner is such a sweet person and very friendly too!

Hi Yelp, I'm thrilled to say that the basic, homey goodness that Cuban's around the world love and seek out is right here in SF. Social Cafe SF is, by far, the best Cuban sandwich and pastries in my living memory. Now my wife did land an amazing, tear jerking, guava pastelito, and this place had a display case that brought those to mind. I ordered one and a cortadito to test the water. Upon inspecting their menu, which is a catalog of Cuban comfort foods, I asked them where they source their bread. "We make our own bread here", responded the owner, looking me right in the eye, knowing why I asked her. In the Bay Area, every place that claims to have a Cuban sandwich fails because of the bread. There is no substitute for the simple and sublime Cuban loaf. We chatted for 10 minutes, lamenting how Bay Area Cuban food is basically counterfeit comida. In the end, I walked out with a box of sweet and savory pastries to share with my wife, and I ate my sandwich on the walk home, a can of Coke in my back pocket, and grin from ear to ear. I will order from here again, and again, and again. Without fail.

Only Cuban bakery in the Bay Area found in Soma. Ordered for a work conference as part of a snack break. Catering menu is available and easy to communicate. Ordered a mix of mango cheese pastry, chicken pika pastry, spinach and feta pastry, and Cuban sandwiches. Cuban sandwiches cut into 3 for easy sharing. Coordinated a time and drop off was made by one of the owners, Terry. You can definitely tell there is a lot of love and authenticity in what Social Cafe delivers. From the real Cuban bread to in house pork to fresh made pastries and more, you can't really go wrong with anything you order. My favorites include the mango cheese, chicken pika (which has just a bit of heat), and the Cuban sandwiches. With sweet and savory options, there's definitely something for everyone. Additionally, the sweet pastries are not overly sweet which is always a win to me.

Had the opportunity to enjoy some of their mango and cheese pastelitos and they had some of the flakiest crusts one would expect in this Cuban treat. You could tell they put a lot of love and patience in their pastry dough because each one looked like a little pillow. I only had the chance to try this one but it was so good that I grabbed a second one. I'm hoping to have the chance to enjoy a guava-based one but that'll have to be the next time I find myself in San Francisco. Their boxes are all labeled and make it easy to do large catering or to-go orders and have everyone self-serve themselves.

OK so as a Cuban-American from Miami, my bar for Cuban food is pretty high. I was soooo excited with Dom B suggested we order Social Cafe for our work conference cafecito break - because what goes better with afternoon coffee than pastelitos?! Enter Terry, the owner and Chef, who is a Miami gal through and through. I got to meet her as she delivered dozens of pastelitos to our office and she is such a gem! I learned she grew up in the neighborhood near where I did in Miami and I instantly knew this was going to be the real deal. Alabaooooo (that means a sense of wonder and awe) - these treats were delicious! We tried the mango and queso pastelito, cuban sandwiches, chicken pika and the spinach and cheese. What separates an ok pastelito from a great one - is the flakiness of the dough. These were *chef's kiss* delicioso. I won't lie, It's hard to find good Cuban food outside of home, and Social Cafe has this Miami girl's seal of approval. I read on their website that the owners couldn't find the perfect pastelito on the West coast, so they made their own. You can definitely tell there is love and pride in this food, which is why Latin food is so good, it is always made with amor that shines through the food. Definitely check it out if you're in the mood to be well fed!

Social Cafe is such a cozy spot with very delicious cubano and a variety of Cuban pastries. It is family owned and everyone seems super down to earth! I loved everything I've tried so far, most notably the cubano. The bread made in house, pork is also roasted in house, and every bite is the perfect amount of juicy pork, ham, mustard, and crispy yet soft bread. The pastries are also super delicious. Absolutely loved the chicken and beef pies which were spiced perfectly and tucked in a flaky puff pastry (that is made in-house!) Highly recommend overall.

Found this place on Yelp when looking for a good Cuban coffee in the area and so happy we did, we've pretty much been going back every weekend since. The cortadito is absolutely delicious and the perfect pick me up in the morning. We had to also try their pastellitos once we saw all the delicious options from their display case. We've tried the OG and the beef pika so far and we're hooked. I'm from LA so the obvious Cuban bakery we have down there is Porto's and these are way better than any potato ball you could get. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting SF who needs a quick small bite that packs a punch. Additionally, the owners are super kind and really hard working you can see they really run this place and give it that homey vibe. Also there's always street parking right out front. A must-try!
